I wrote an update to my post about the arson attack on the Etz-Hayyim synagogue but I realised that this sad, shocking news deserved its own post. The same synagogue was targeted again early on Saturday morning, destroying much more than the previous attack.

Over the past few months, you may have noticed a significant drop in the number of posts here each week and my lack of participation in many of the “discussions”. There are two reasons for this. Firstly, I am trying to make some very important decisions about my real life and it is proving to [...]
My apologies to everyone commenting here for not being around… again. I have so many things going on in my personal life that my head is spinning a bit and I have not been able to even read all your comments properly, let alone formulate “proper” content. I will post something about what is going [...]
It is absolutely unbelievable.
Wildfires are raging all across Attiki and are threatening to reach Athens. People are being evacuated. Houses are burning. The children’s hospital in Pendeli has been evacuated and is surrounded by flames. I have close friends in three of the critical areas. We have been on the phone back and forth. [...]

Just back from a wonderful break near Koroni which is truly beautiful. Deserted beach, fantastic friends, shared cooking, lots of eating, swimming, “competitive games” (lol guys!), deep and seriously meaningful conversation, love and hugs (always welcome) and best of all… no TV, internet, blogging or grumpy comments. I will get round to answering all your [...]

I have decided to host an informal DD Live on Thursdays. I cannot promise to be here every week but you don’t need me to have a get together! During the summer months at least, when life is a little more relaxed, I can try and be host. For now let’s stick to the old [...]
Several emails later… I feel the need to say a few words about Michael Jackson. I was never a fan of his. I was into the gloomier, more dangerous sounds of my generation. The King of Pop was candy floss to me. Sweet but pointless.
I guess I’m going against the current grain by saying, that [...]
We have had a family member staying at our house this past week so I have stayed away from blogging and enjoyed our time together. I also pulled a muscle (or did something silly) in my neck so I spent yesterday lying down, not being able to move my head! I am intending to stay [...]

Neo-fascists disrupt presentation of the first Greek-Macedonian Dictionary in Athens
Skopje and Athens, Wednesday, 03 June 2009 by Georgios N. Papadakis
The presentation of the first Greek-Macedonian dictionary was brutally disrupted last night in Athens by a group of Greek ultra-nationalists belonging to the neo-fascist organization “Hrissi Avgi” (Golden Dawn).
A few minutes after [...]
