Our ” works” are almost done.
We are exhausted but we are hopeful that things are moving forward and will be finished one day. Today, we have a new situation which was not foreseen. Apparently our pipes, for the gas central heating, are unsightly to our neighbours (who are standing in the street craning their necks up to see them). It’s probably nothing (and nothing to do with us because we are renting) but it might mean (!) the job having to be completely done again. I am really annoyed with our neighbours (after two weeks of mess and noise) coming out and complaining when we only have a few hours to go.

We have been told that the pipes can be covered and painted to blend in with the front of the house (great) but work has halted, the guys have gone home and I am left wondering what will happen tomorrow! And we only had an hour or so to go…

From our living room we have an overview of a roof that is full of old metal, old toilets, pipes and rotting wood that is completely overrun by cats. Yesterday, we witnessed our ” across the road ” neighbour “watering” her shutters for an hour straight. Our street is full of potholes. We have endured hours and hours of powercuts. As a family we suffered four months of REALLY cold weather without heating and NOW… in the eleventh hour… our pipes for natural gas are unsightly !

I am angry and confused…

Anyway, the roof is under way and going well. So at least we can be sociable after such a long time
