Footage of the recent clashes in central Athens proved what we already know: that the extreme-right group Chryssi Avgi and certain members of the police force, particularly the riot police, not only share the same dark “ideas” but also join forces on the “battlefield” against the “enemy within” and the “accursed migrants.” To the batons and tear gas of the police, Chryssi Avgi adds knives, clubs and iron bars, and they believe they are doing the country a service as they crack open people’s skulls with a small Greek flag adorning the end of their weapon. I wonder, isn’t the symbol tainted when used as a lethal weapon?
One would think that the shocking images of riot police and Chryssi Avgi members working together in unison would prompt some response from the political leadership. Yet it hasn’t. In fact, the government spokesman denied the images without batting an eye. All we heard was that an investigation would be launched. An investigation had also been conducted into the case of the Cypriot student who was savagely beaten by police in Thessaloniki. Images of that event forced the Greek police to admit that police brutality is not just a malicious rumor circulated by the enemies of the nation, but the penalties handed to the perpetrators were a joke, smacking more of approval than reprimand. Nothing more should be expected this time, even if a new video were to show that Chryssi Avgi was armed by the riot police itself.
And so the status quo is preserved until the next time neofascists stab an immigrant under the unflinching eye of the forces of public order, the next attack against foreigners, when the police will say “don’t even bother” to people who protest, and the next time the National Technical School of Athens is occupied and Chryssi Avgi appears “spontaneously,” wearing the mask of a concerned citizen, to “help restore order.”

I am aware of these and seen all videos! Then again I have also seen the ‘antiracists’ and ‘antifacist’ facist burning vandalising humiliating and terrorising also! As well as creating havoc and bring all life to standstill!
I am aware of the unacceptable rationale why some police force may turn the blind eye to the facist scums of the Golden Dawn. A thorough light needs to be shead and investigation instigated!
I am equally aware though how the ‘antiracists’ ‘democratic’ leftist facists and maniacs may have equal strong footing on the state mechanism and this explains why after all their numerous outright and outrageous crimes none (among the 100s and 100s that we have all seen taking part) NONE has ever arrested and convicted. In particular the ‘democratic’ joke under the name of SYRIZA is particularly suspect as we all know many of their people effectively run many departments of the state!
And if I want a bit more pedantic and try to aportion the issue I think in terms of numbers and past actions the anarchofacist sponsored by SYRIZA is a far larger case to consider! Golden Dawn are facist extremist whose numbers though can counted with the fingers of a hand!
The bottom line is that BOTH are unacceptable outlaws in a supposed state of law and BOTH should be arrested and taken away if they caught on the act or preparing for it! They create a misery for all those who want to go about their normal life as is their absolute RIGHT!
Unfortunately, migrants are not the main concern for the authorities. But, if these type of situations keep occurring, it’s only a matter of time before an American tourist is hurt by these idiots and then the full weight of the “400 lb Gorilla” called the American Embassy will bear down upon the Greek authorities and then answers will be found.
I’ll never forget years ago, an American tourist in Rhodes was killed by an intruder in his hotel room, and you would have thought that MOSES parted the red sea with all the attention and intensity this got from the authorities in trying to apprehend the killer. But, if it was a poor Alby or Roma, it would have just been swept under the rug.

I mean, yes, they’re probably fewer but from what I see, the police aren’t too keen on catching them…
…You see my point Georgia that from where I look things the police is keen to catch NO-ONE!
Political corectness? unlawful sympathies? inter-Party dealings? I dont know! I can only comment on RESULTS! And these from whichever direction you may look..Just look simply BAD!
Certainly, the police force should not be sympathetic towards one fringe group or another. However, that is how revolutions are formed. Or coups for that matter.
I do not condone such actions though I also cannot bring myself to feel any pity for the “anti-fascist” nutjobs either. They have brought great misery to the people with their actions now let them lick their wounds. A little late to cry “foul”, if you ask me.
The point, as I have had explained to me by Greek colleagues, is that the Greek security services have “sleeping” members in all of the extremist movements. The question is whether they are there in a personal capacity or as part of intelligence operations: if it is the latter, then why do these things continue?
Hard to give you a straight answer especially when I cannot see how this is working in any case!
They dont seem to be able to anticipate and certianly not be able to cure!
My opinion is that everything seems to be on a personal level and ad hoc!
SYRIZA on the other hand always seems to use his political clout and connexion to leave their troublemakers out of the reach of Law!
Both sets of extremists have had helping hands from the police and political parties. However, responsible citizens, who are interested in reducing the damage would be more honest in reporting this.
