I am getting back to this blog now. I took a much needed break for the last 5 days. I didn’t visit or read comments at all. And I am feeling much better for it.

My mum is out of the hospital and is now beginning the long road to recovery. The operation went very well and they are taking excellent care of her. Thank you to everyone who sent best wishes, lit candles or said prayers. Your support means a lot to all of us.

We still have no heating but these last few days have been sunny and relatively warm. The sun is streaming into my living room, I’ve opened the windows and there’s a real sense that winter will soon be over.

I’ve got some personal projects in progress and that excites and inspires me. More on that in the near future.

I have closed comments on the problematic posts that have sparked another flurry of personal attacks. I would like to remind everyone that discussion here is welcome (that’s why I don’t close comments fully) but insults and rudeness do not constitute discussion and are of no help to anyone.

So I have taken some very deep breaths over the last few days and feel ready to get back to this blog and the issues that I care about (as well as some fun things from time to time !)
