Many many thanks vegankid, for fixing the rest of my blog. I won’t link to your blog at the moment because it looks like it’s been hacked ? That’s horrible. You spend so much time helping others with all this stuff. I hope you can retrieve your domain as soon as possible. I can’t understand why people do things like that.
So, I’ve got my sidebar widgets back. My place is looking more like home. I’ve added a contact form to the top of the page. Feel free to use it to send me guest posts or articles, to ask questions, report blog breakages or just to say hello. Suggestions for additions you would like to see here are very welcome.
One thing I am hoping to do in the next few days is to make a new header for THIS IS NOT MY COUNTRY. I’ve done it before but I do get nervous playing with templates here. It’s not as easy as the old html days (remember them ?)
UPDATE: I’m trying out a new template as you can see! I was inspired by little DD (see post below).
I don’t make New Year resolutions because they seem to set you up for disappointment by week two. However, now I’m back from this recent flurry of fixing up this place, I do want to spend some time thinking about what I would like to achieve with it.
Have you made any blogging plans or resolutions ? I’d love to hear them.
Also, seeing as this is the beginning of the year, let me appeal to any lurkers who might be out there ? I’d love to hear from you too. I’d be really interested to know whether I can do anything else to encourage people to leave comments. I have some idea of why some of you don’t (and that’s absolutely fine) but are there any things that really put you off commenting ? I’d like to address that issue if I can.
I was reminded again of how much I love my blog during the time my blog was broken. Thank you for your patience while it was being re-built.
DD

I got inspired by you and started my own blog, Another Scorpio. But I rarely comment because I think my experiences in Greece are very different from yours for a number of reasons (I’m married to a Greek American, I live in the country, I rarely get to Athens, etc.) and when I do comment, I then have to deal with a lot of flak from people who either didn’t understand what I was trying to say or didn’t like it.
Too much work. I’d rather just read your blog. Which is beautiful by the way. I generally read you through Google Reader so that I don’t have to keep trying to keep up with new postings for the 60 or so blogs I track (I know, I need a life).
Anyway, Happy New Year and I enjoy what you’re doing.
happy new year !
ps: love the orange
Ahhh Harolynne, I am so happy that you started your own blog and that this place has been an inspiration to you. Thank you for your very kind words. It’s moments like these that remind me of how important this new (relatively) medium can be. Allowing ordinary people to have a platform for their opinions without having to be an expert in technology. And an ability to make a difference in even very small ways. I know what you mean about having to
It’s one of the difficulties of blogging and commenting. It is often very hard to not take it personally and to look at the issues.
Anyway, if you need any help at all with your blog, I am here. Best of luck with it.
Hi danilena, a very happy new year to you too. I’m glad you like the new look. All the previous versions of THIS IS NOT MY COUNTRY have been blue or blue/green but I figured it was time for a change. I was talking with the love of my life yesterday about it and we were saying that just because this blog is mainly serious and newsy, it doesn’t have to be austere!
Little DD likes it too!
hey DD, Happy New Year!
like you, I don’t really make resolutions because I know I’m not gonna keep ‘em. but I do feel a certain post-holiday, turn of the calendar, general sort of “okay, fresh energy, new projects”…thing.
