I believe it must have been a deluge of "hate" comments/mail that led bollybutton to take such drastic measures. One or two nasty remarks can be ignored but when you get more hatred than kindness I totally understand why she would do this. It is very sad though and I hope she drops by and reads this.

Get in touch BB. Let's talk ?

That's rather sad, but closing all comments to the blog is the wrong approach. Even removing them is, in my opinion, the wrong approach. Personally, do not think being called names in comments is worth worrying about, or worth being offended over. The mere act of providing the bastards with a place to write their opinion, and tolerating it, shows superiority over them.

In any case, if I was the kind of person that could be offended by comments, I would put up a "terms of use" page, which would state that offensive comments will be removed and would also give some general explanations as to what I consider offensive. That would give me license to remove any comments violating the terms of use, and that would be the end of it.

This is a tough world, there is no use in allowing yourself all the time to be hurt by it.

(BTW, I have a "terms of use" page on my blog, but that is only to say that "anything goes". I understand, however, that if my visitors start cussing and cursing me I may feel compelled to revise it.)
