Thank You

A huge and heartfelt thank you to everyone who has left a comment here and posted about what is happening to me over on their blogs. I am deeply moved and and proud to be part of this strong and passionate community.

The nationalist blogger who posted my full name and details of what I do in real life, has removed the post following my request. I was surprised that he did. The person who sent the information to him was (of course) Anonymous although I have a very good idea who it was. My “friend” Doogie Howzer said that information has been circulating for a long time.

I don’t know what else to say about this right now. I have some serious things going on in my real life apart from this bullying so I am unable to deal with this emotionally for now. I just wanted to let you all know that I am OK despite all this. I have some truly amazing people around me and I will get through it.

I will definitely not be giving in and all this just proves to me that I must continue. Thank you and much love to you all. Peace. DD

I’m glad to hear that you’re OK.

Hope all your other worries turn out well.

Glad to hear it, DD. If there is something to do, you know where I am and you know the European Tribune is with you.

I just stumbled onto this blog via Echidne. It’s always bad to hear about someone being “outed.”

i’m glad you’re well — but i didn’t doubt that you would be.

Hey DD…I hope this finds you well. I’m sorry to hear what you going through. I hope you’re getting as much support as you need right now. Take care.

Cheer up, Diva! Your fight is the right one!

We are looking forward to reading more of your writing here and on European Tribune, too!

I too am pleasantly surprised that the nationalist blogger honoured your request. I guess emotion can make all of us do things we later regret, but it takes some maturity to rectify matters rather than dig in defensively. Well done to them, and good for you.

Devious Diva and Panioyits Dimatras, can you please comment on this human rights campaign?

Otherwise, “The only thing necessary for the persistence of evil is for enough good people to do nothing.”

If this was already posted in the last comments thread, I’m sorry to be redundant, but this page (http://www.crablaw.com/2007/04/take-back-blog-host-page.html) is hosting a “Take Back the Blog” blogswarm next Saturday the 28th for bloggers to come together to speak out against online stalking, slander, harassment, and intimidation. All you have to do is post about this issue on that day, and submit a link to your post to this site. Maybe showing how many of us are willing to stand up against this kind of behavior will make a difference.

Good on him for removing it, and hopefully you reached other people and made them realize how genuinely distressing that sort of behavior is. Glad you’re feeling safer!

I’m glad you are not letting the darker side of humanity keep you from spreading important truths. Please keep it up. Like many, I had no idea that these communities exsisted! As they say, sunlight IS the best disinfectant, so please continue to shed the light on these issues.

As for removing the violent, racist, and offensive comments. Might it not be more effective to post the comments on your main page with links to the individuals who left them? Again, sunlight…

    came over from quakerdave’s.

you have many people sending good thoughts your way.

    Hey DD,
Looks like I have missed quite a storm!! This is really bad what’s happened, and proves the childish reaction of those who can’t handle the truth. Good on you for facing it so well, wishing you strength and safety. As I have told you I am a journalist by training so let me know if I can help you in any way.

I, too, came here by way of QuakerDave’ site.

Add my support to those of the above commenters.

    dear diva ,
its wonderful to see the net stand together against this kinda of abuse ,, and many friends,, HACKER FRIENDS
can take care of the problematic behavior
of those who cant play by the rules,
    of course nonviolently .

BUT if you permit me i pondered upon
HERAS subtle message of supporting the return of the cypriot city of
    varosha or famagusta or ammoxostos

all of a sudden they remembered
trying to attract attention on other subjects,
    on a humane basis,
WHEN THEY KNOW THEY SCREWED UP…..BIG TIME

    dear hera

in a fact finding mission in 1986 in the city of LARNACA CYPRUS i have met refugees from the
    turkish invasion of 1974,,
most were very poor farmers or workers
in ammoxostos ,, the cypriot goverment
built for all refugees one story houses
    in great suburban fashion
    outside the city of larnaca
    , with all the
comforts of water , electricity , roads ,
    hospitilazation if needed .
ALL CYPRIOTS REFUGEES ARE MUCH BETTER OFF THAN BEFORE
AND SOME EVEN STATED TO ME PERSONALLY
THAT , WHY SHOYLD THEY RETURN TO POVERTY
WHEN THEY ARE MUCH BETTER OFF
    WERE THEY ARE NOW.

Of course those wishing to return
are those with large pieces of lands
    were poorer northern cypriots cultivated
the land for meager salaries .

    this is my personal opinion

    you and me bitchin
    about ancient history,,,

were greeks mostly officials of the military junta of 1974 and C.I.A, agents
betrayed our greek and turkish cypriot brothers
    and the invasion ensued

Divas process to report the poorliving
conditions of the ROM in VOTANIKOS
for instance is not on the same level
    with the political problem
of turkish occupation of northern cyprus
or even english occupation in the military bases next to ammoxostos .

SO DONT TRY TO TURN THE TABLES

it has nothin to do with divas ROM series
concerning hundreds of people of rom
descent living in garbage , having no water
not having an education AND NO GREEK GOVERMENT
OFFICIAL DOING ANYTHING ABOYT IT ,

And the worse of it is ,, everybody
(whos a greek citizen cant see this . ) im greek i see this and i applaud the diva for taking a stand

i pity you and your friends for your stand .

    it was pathetic.

OMFG! I feel so guilty, DD! I haven’t stopped by a few days and all this shit’s been going down?

DD, you KNOW you have my support and solidarity! It is so encouraging that many decent people left words of encouragement.

I am proud to call you friend
    and read your blog because
you are making a difference NOW,
in a shitty world and in MY country,
you are doing something to help people living in MY country,
    which is THEIR country,
which may not be YOUR country…
    but in the end is
    OUR country.

As a Greek but moreover, as a citizen of the world, I thank you for making a difference, I am humbled and inspired by your writings.

Peace and good vibes your way.

Whew!!! Thank God that blew over!

    Hahahahaha

    How utterly pathetic.

  24. 24 deviousdivaNo Gravatar

No to Stupidity. How disturbing that you find this so funny? You have obviously never been on the receiving end of this kind of negative attention?
