Turn Off !

Almost missed this one folks !

At 5 minutes to nine this evening until nine o’clock (5 minutes) we are turning off. We are turning off everything. Lights, computers, TV, ovens… anything that uses electricity. And I mean off, not on stand-by. This is part of a global effort to prove that we can do something about climate change. In Paris, where this action originated, the Eiffel Tower lights will go out. I have found NOTHING about this action in the British or Greek press but let’s do it anyway…. It’s only five minutes!

Please note that this action will be at my local time (Athens, Greece) in two hours from now!

Suggestion: For the five minutes that we are in darkness, with no distractions, light a candle and think about 5 things you can do personally to cut your contribution to climate damage. Re-cycle, take the bus, turn off unnessecary lights, save water, read and find out more, spread the word, get involved in local campaigns, start a campaign, etc….

This is silly.

If you really want to change global warming, get the U.S to sign and enforce the Kyoto protocols within its own borders.

Also, don’t give countries like China and India (where emission standards are far below that of the U.S. and Europe) a free pass.

Both countries are poised to surpass the U.S. in terms of number of car on the road, so it’s important they don’t contribute to the problem either.

No sacrifice, and of no use towards changing the global warming situation.

Didn’t you read my post about the U.S. & Kyoto?

OK. So two of you think this is silly… I think, that seeing as our governments are not taking the lead (Kyoto etc), we could perhaps TRY and do something. Rather than sit around and say “this is silly”.

I don’t have a car, run a business or have any influence on policies of various countries. This was something I COULD do and if we all did at least that, maybe we could make a difference ?

Oh and you haven’t been censored it’s my spam filter which sometimes catches things it shouldn’t. Technology is not always perfect.
