Themes Changes
If anyone has noticed anything odd going on around here, don’t worry. I am looking for a new theme for the blog so that I can have two sidebars. I want to use one for ads etc and the other for all the proper stuff. I think that that way would be less intrusive to readers because you can happily ignore one sidebar completely (unless you fancy clicking on any of the links and earning me a bit of dosh !)
Unfortunately, it’s a painfully difficult process finding a template with two sidebars, good design, widgets and customisable header. If anyone knows one, please let me know….
Thank you for your patience.

this one has a nice simple design and is easily customizable.

The theme I’m using is very easy to work with and widgetize. It doesn’t have a header image but I can show you how to insert one like I did.
and of course there are 70 odd pages here

Thanks April Reign, I like the look of the template but is there any way to replace the green header you have with my own instead of putting it underneath? And perhaps changing the colour of the green text to blue ! I really appreciate your offer of help with this. Thank you.
You can’t change the original header because that is what forces the title /link colour changes.
I set up a tester blog here so you can see what it would look like.

There are two other colours of blue which you can see here

If you feel comfortable with CSS and all that, you might consider starting with a more minimal theme and building up from there. There are also a few three column themes at Plaintext.org. I’ve found that starting with less and only adding what you want can save a lot of time and headache.
Just a thought.
Thank you so much again, April Reign. Wow, I can’t believe you went to all that trouble to help me out ! Very very much appreciated.
Hi Kevin, thank you for the advice. I might actually go for that…I’ll try not to worry about scary CSS and plunge in. It was already a big step to go to my own domain (Thanks Vegankid)
I am sure I can figure this out ! I’ll shout when I get stuck…
you know if you have any questions about templates, feel free to ask. with any wordpress theme it is fairly easy to change the header and the link colors (as long as you know where to look).
Hi Vegankid, Thanks for that. I will be in touch for details by email.
Generally though, I was wondering if I can use dreamweaver to edit a template or should I use the built-in theme editor ?
