Just wanted to let you know that I am taking a short break from this place. I have family visiting and I am looking forward to spending some relaxing, good times with them. I will be checking comments but I doubt I will be posting anything major for the next week.

Please continue the Amnesty campaign

[Aside: I have had enough of the little campaign that someone has started against me here, so comment deletion begins again. If you don't like it, please go somewhere else. Thank you]

    HI Diva,

Have a nice break. Your blog has been a source of good info and a way to vent for over a year now.

How about adding this to your tagline. I heard it from a friend the other day and thought it was cute.

    It is:

“I hope that someday we will be able to put away our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people.”

I have been reading this blog for over a year now but haven’t commented until now. I find this latest round of “devious diva” bashing very childish. I have noticed that the people involved give themselves silly nicknames that describe the stance they are going to take. I imagine they find it very witty. Two examples are in todays recent comments: “Safety and Common Sense First” and “Friend of the Future”. They then proceed to bring up trivial and spiteful points against the post, the blog or the writer herself. I used to think that it was because the subject was tricky and people were being defensive, but I have noticed that it doesn’t matter what is written here someone will have a go. I actually think recently that many of these comments might actually be from the same person, using different names just to be annoying.

I just wanted to say to those people/person that I think you are pathetic and you should perhaps think about why are doing this.

I also wanted to add myself to the long list of people here who support this blog wholeheartedly and believe the world is a better place with people like DD in it. Thank you.

Hannah, how do we know that you are not this same person trying to play devil’s advocate against yourself.

Yes, there are many people (like me) who are very shy and never see the light of day due to a skin problem and maybe we can make our day brighter by reading Diva’s blog.

So, please don’t be too hard on those other posters. Remember what Oscar Wilde said, “Ambition is the last refuge of failure”. Some people enjoy triviality and I’m one of them.

Diva, great blog as always and I hope you don’t mind me scolding this Hannah because as long as we’re polite and don’t say bad words, handicapped peoples should be aloud to make comments right?

Diva Blog Regular & Co, your comment is a little surreal!? Can you please elaborate? I do not understand the “handicapped peoples should be aloud to make comments right ?” bit.

I thinks it’s ok to enjoy triviality but it depends what that leads to? If it’s a general blog bashing or DD (me) bashing…well, I tend to agree with Hannah. It’s pathetic.

I am very glad if this blog makes your day a little brighter.

    Hannah, welcome and thank you.

Yes, I agree that the posts that bash you and are mean in general should be deleted, and you do that so that’s a good thing.

However, the posts that respond to mean people intensely are good also because it lets us stand up to them and know they can’t push us around with their extreme views on immigration, racism etc.

Regarding the hadicapped comment, I mean’t handicapped in the manner that I cannot go outside in the sun much due to a skin condition. I guess I’m really not handicapped but melanoma is a real risk If I’m not careful and apply sunscreen, so inside is safer…

Hope that clears it up. Have a great break…

Oh, I understand what you mean now. I thought you were saying that I was preventing “handicapped people” from commenting here. My mis-reading. Sorry.
Yes, it’s fine to respond strongly to people with extreme views and I hope this is a place where people can stand up to and challenge people that hold them.

Thank you for coming back and clearing up my confusion. I hope you will comment more often now you have “broken the ice”.
