Censorship
Published by deviousdiva October 28th, 2006 in blogme.gr.The outcry about the censorship of the Greek search engine blogme.gr is growing daily. Hundreds of Greek bloggers are protesting and getting the message out to the rest of the world. This is turning out to be a powerful indication of the power of blogging. There is a comprehensive list of Greek and English language blogs covering this over at magicasland
Also read the article at CNET about the case.
Go and read what is going on here in Greece and please add your voice to the protest with a post on your own blog.
Coincidently, Amnesty International put out a Call to Bloggers to stand up for freedom ahead of world meeting on future of Internet which is going to be held… in Athens!

Well, what can anyone say. This story is just pathetic.
The guy pressing the slander charges is a Greek telemarketer (he prefers to be known as a televangelist) who even has a listing in Wikipedia. Read it, it’s a good laugh, while not very flattering.

Obviously, the Greek judiciary is smoking way too much crack.
Diva, I signed up for the UN “Internet Governance Forum” http://www.igfgreece2006.gr/ at http://www.intgovforum.org/register/index.php - and I would suggest others who are near Athens to do the same: http://betabug.ch/blogs/ch-athens/475
Especially I want to go to the “Openness” discussion on Tuesday morning. How can we ever believe that suppressive governments will get our ideas about freedom of speech when even democratic countries arrest someone for as much as a link?
