well, i’m mostly a lurker here too, but mostly because i spend most of my time on your blog learning, as opposed to having an opinion.  I’ve found your posts about immigration to be most helpful for me politically, but of course, you know i’m feeling ya on the woc level too–like vegan, i know nothing about greece, and spend a lot of time going, omg, if only we could some how create an international immigrant movment!!!!, because the issues between greeks immigrant community and the u.s.’s immigrant community are so similiar.
anyway, i also think that this should be your site of power, so i am especially glad that you have taken control of the comment space!!!  that leaves more time for those of us who are learning to actually learn!!!! rock on mi amiga…

Thank you vegankid, G Bitch, BondBloke and Vibrating Liz for your words of support. I appreciate all of them. I know the material here on my blog covers issues that can seem removed for people that do not live here. Greece is often thought of as simply a holiday paradise. It is so much more than that. My main focus has been to highlight issues that affect us here too. I am hoping to perhaps expand to a guest blogger situation sometime soon. Perhaps a monthly post on the theme "This is not my country" from different people  around the world. Any interest? I will be writing a post on this very soon.

Your blog is a real treasure. I say continue to use it as a tool to create and develop your own strong voice, then follow that voice wherever it leads you.

I read fairly regularly as time permits, but rarely comment as I feel myself too far removed from most of your posts, but pleas keep writing as you do because I find your posts very interesting and thought provoking…

Hi Sappho or not, I am sure some other people who visit and comment here have more expertise on this subject. I cannot even begin to answer your questions as I no little or no knowledge about it. good questions, diva.  since i’m mostly a lurker on your site, i’ll respond by saying that there isn’t really much you can do.  my lack of commenting is mostly a lack of time to do so with any depth.  i enjoy what you post, tho.  and i really like your photo blogas a sometimes commenter, i’ll answer the second question with i’m mostly interested in seeing this as a place where you feel empowered, whatever that means for you.and i like the idea of guest blogging.  not only does it provide some new content, but it also helps to liven an area up.  unfortunately i don’t know much about Greece (except what i read here:).sorry i couldn’t make the last chat.  it was a busy day.  and i’ll be in chicago visiting my sister and some friends this thursday.  but i’ll be here the following week!
