V FOR VENDETTA
Published by deviousdiva April 26th, 2006 in Personal.I haven't seen the film so I am not going to comment on it except to say that Alan Moore, who wrote the comics, wants nothing to do with it and his name does not appear in the credits. This is because of a long-standing argument with DC comics. That aside, I have the graphic novel and it's brilliant. One particular quote inspired this next piece. I think it's relevant to the issues being talked about especially on the femenist and women of colour blogs since so many of them are being hit by misogynists and racists.
Quote from V for Vendetta in bold… I wonder if it made it to the film?

A very good movie and a much better graphic novel, both well worth the time and investment for their respective mediums. Alan Moore has several valid reasons for all his comics-to-movies distancing, most importantly the quality of the translation from one medium to the other.

Haven't seen the movie (yet) but i'm a proud owner of Watchmen also by Alan Moore. Blew my mind when I first read it and introduced me to the medium of graphic novels.

Sometimes I think that I owe my whole political education to comics. I grew up in the70’s and 80’s with the comics such as 2000AD and I swear that my understanding of what racism and political authoritarianism means derives from artists such as Alan Moore. I helped my undersatand that what was happening around me wasn’t just just personal meaness.
It helped my understand that having a Irish background was not something to be ashamed of, that the problems was mine but theirs.
This time with corrections.
