MISSING CHILDREN UPDATE

I recieved this from Greek Helsinki today:
People should send letters to the authorities demanding a prompt and independent investigation to locate them and punish those responsible for the disapperances in the framework of the UN Rapporteur’s suggestion and in fulfillment of the two specific recomemndations by UN CAT and UN HRC.
Letters could kindly be copied to GHM at office@greekhelsinki.gr as well as any answers received.
We “ordinary people” should speak up and remind those people “up there” that these children disappeared from state care and that responsibility for them must be taken.

I don’t even know what to say, you’re right in the article below this, nobody cares about children. Women and children come in dead last in the category of ‘important people’, it’s sick and disgusting and I wish I knew how to curb it.
As for the letter, already done (I did it in email though, Greece is a hell of a way to get a stamp to *grin*) Excellent post, I had no idea that this had happened which is why blogging is so important.
Bitingbeaver, thanks for your action. I wish I knew what to do too. I just hope that the more people who know about what is going on and speak up about it, the more pressure can be put on the “powers that be” to DO something. There are some dedicated people working on this right now. I am in touch with the Greek Helsinki Monitor who are keeping up the pressure and doing all they can to find to get the authorities to find these children. They are sending me a draft letter that I will be putting up on this blog that people can sign.
I wake up everyday now with the faces of these hundreds of children in my eyes. What happened to them? It’s breaking my heart. I don’t know what else to say. This is one of the saddest things I’ve dealt with here.
