Further to my post yesterday on the drowning deaths of migrants and asylum seekers, here is a BBC article from 2003 on landmine deaths in Greece.
Also an article on the Independent Race and Refugee News Network entitled How can I leave? I have no legs

Please also visit the International Campaign to Ban Landmines for further information on landmines worldwide.

Thank you to SeaWitch for the prompt.

A small update for the readers.

In 2003 you read in the article: Turkey and Greece formally joined the international treaty banning land mines last week, but it is not clear when they would start removing mines.

Greece at least (but I’m pretty sure Turkey too) has kept up the treaty and has removed mines from its borders and is continuing to do so.
