SWEAR ON THE BIBLE
Published by deviousdiva June 29th, 2005 in Personal.A great friend of mine became a Greek citizen recently. After years of headache and heartache, he went to swear his pledge of allegiance. He is Muslim but, surprise surprise, he was sworn in using the Bible. Now correct me if I am wrong, but I thought it was now unnecessary in Europe to swear on the Bible if you were of another faith?
But then, what did I expect, this is the only European capital that has no state-recognised mosque for it’s approximately 100,000 Muslim citizens living in the Athens area. The first and probably only one is being built will be situated some 20km OUTSIDE OF ATHENS! Daily prayers? I think not.
Diva, I partook in the Bonanza motif after reading a few comments from other posters. I am a long time silent reader of your blog and always post with an assumed name. I am shy. I did NOT however post any racist comments during the tail end of your blog post on Xenophobia. Those posts were probably from the person (you know who he is)and his IP address will probably indicate somewhere in the U.S.A. My IP address should let you know I am in Greece. At any rate, I enjoy posting anon and sometimes with a flair toward humor to make my point. I would NEVER post anything RACIST. For this you can be sure.
Thank you for clarifying. I haven’t got into the habit of checking IP addresses yet since I didn’t have that facility before. I will from now on though. I ammended my last comment on the thread to expose the person responsible. I tnink it just shows the type of person he is very clearly. I hope you will continue to read my blog and will comment more often. I don’t like the anonymous tag because it’s nice to be able to follow a particular persons ideas over a period of time. I like the building of this small community here. Feel free to give yourself a fake name.
